Welcome to the video page. You won't find documents of my dance pieces here. Instead I've included videos I made as part of larger performances, videos of improvisation in the studio and some songs. You can see all of my videos on Youtube by following this link: http://youtube.com/profile?user=nycscotty
Green Dress Dance (with Dogs)
Working out a section of a new dance in my living room in New Orleans. It ended up being called “Chicken and Sword.” I performed it for the NPN meeting. Clara and Bucket make a spontaneous appearance.
Big Lake
We went out to Lake Ponchartrain a couple weeks before hurricane Katrina to make this film. The starting concept was “my death: imagined.” Super 8 film, shot and hand-processed by Thomas Little, conceived, performed and edited by Scott Heron with original music by Corey Dargel.
Goodbye to Love
This is my first Youtube performance ever. I made it just to showcase my piano and vocal stylings, but ended up using it in a section of a Katrina dance (yes, I made a Katrina dance) that played at the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans and the Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis. I was a sword-wielding, dancing trash monster while this video played.
Louisa Street
Every house on the even side of the street, staring at the river, July 30, 2006)
This is a slide show I made on my bike one year after the storm. I made it as a backdrop for a clompy little memorial dance of the same title. I picked Louisa Street because it is where I live, not the worst of the devastation, a pretty typical street. It starts in the high ground by the river and heads out toward the lake until the memory on my camera ran out.
